When my client came to me requesting a sitting room—a spot in her home for a little rest and relaxation, or an area to read a book, or a comfy zone to maybe catch a few Z’s—I knew exactly what avenue to take.

And when she mentioned she really wanted theeee amazing green velvet couch from Dandy Home and Ranch—well, I couldn’t wait to get started.

Besides, there’s just something about velvet. Even better? GREEN VELVET!

“Mrs. L” and the “L” family moved into their new home this past summer and since that time have been revamping each room in order to fit their own personal style. And this sitting room was next on the punch list.

This sweet little space sits off the entryway and is the first room you see upon entering the home which meant that this area needed to pack a huge punch by means of personality and style.

Step 1 in this revamping process? The vision board.

Talk about cozy! With that gorgeous green couch as the focal point of this whole room, the rest of the details came together seamlessly.

An oversized leather chair for reading, a beautiful area rug to add warmth, shelving for additional decor and reading material, and a gorgeous neutral art piece for added interest…and here are the final results:

I joke in saying that this room has been “Dandy-fied” but it’s true. So many of the elements seen in this room came from my favorite boutique, Dandy Home & Ranch. The rest of it? A mixture of Wayfair, Amazon and yes, The Goodwill!

Wood risers, metal vases, succulents, etc.—the details are my favorite part of any project. They’re what makes a space custom, and a house a home.
